To create a grade book in Microsoft Office Excel.
- To become familiar with the different features in Microsoft Office Excel.
- To learn how to create a formula for finding the average of grades.
Steps
- Open Microsoft Office Excel.
- Identify the names of the features indicated by letters. (Answer Key in Solutions).
2. Create a grade book with heading of Student Name, Assignments and Total Grade.
3. Fill in relevant information.
4. Highlight entire content and right click.
5. When options appear, click 'Format cells.'
6. Under the heading 'Border,' choose the type of border that is preferred around rows and columns.
7. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
8. Under the heading 'Font' choose a preferred colour; this changes the font to a preferred colour.
9. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
10.Under the heading 'Fill' choose a colour; this changes the cell to a preferred colour.
11. Bold Headings.
12. Click the cell under the heading named 'Average'.
13. Click fx in the Formula Bar.
14. Choose the option 'Average'.
15. Fill in the number of cells that are desired.
16. A shortcut for completing the rest is to drag down the first average cell.

I googled 'what are the parts of excel'. Then I went on Google Drive to see the shared information in the form of a video and PowerPoint on of an excel tutorial sent by the teacher.

I can now recall how to calculate averages using formulas and am familiar with the proper names used for the features. Also, Excel can be designed to allow reading to be more focused with the help of colours in various cells.
Results
I can now calculate averages easier and faster. Also a grade book with information stored will always be available.
